Hi, Hank ! Congrats for yet another learned, informative and well written review. I have the original DG LPs, and the 1985 Kreisleriana, even on vinyl, strikes me as one of the most natural-sounding recordings Horowitz ever made. Really great stuff. Have a great 2011 ! Best regards, Carlos
Thanks for your comment, Carlos. I envy you having that LP, with the deluxe gatefold design. DG really gave VH the red carpet treatment during his years there. It certainly served them well. At one point, Horowitz in Moscow, The Studio Recordings, and The Last Romantic held the top 3 spots on Billboards Classical charts.
By day: Cubicle drone. By night: Husband, uncle, Classical music enthusiast, pianist, blogger, dogwalker, home renovator, Trekker, good trouble-maker.
